A trading post for the modern Mediterranean
Terra & Sol began in a small studio in Lisbon, in a side-street workshop that smelled of beeswax and clay. We were two friends with a stubborn belief: that the everyday objects in a home should carry the hand of the person who made them.
What started as a single trip — knocking on workshop doors in the Alentejo, the Algarve, and then up into Galicia — became a network. Today we work directly with more than thirty independent artisans across Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece. Every piece you find here is signed, stamped, and shipped from the studio where it was made.
What we believe
We believe in the long now. In objects that earn their place on the shelf by being used, repaired, and handed down. In small workshops over large factories. In paying fair prices, on time, in cash — and listing the maker's name beside the product.
How we choose makers
We visit every workshop before listing a single piece. We look for makers who have been refining one craft for a decade or more, who can tell you the geology of the clay or the variety of the olive without checking a label. We don't ask anyone to scale up to meet our demand — if a maker can only produce twenty bowls a month, we list twenty bowls a month.
If you'd like to know more about a particular artisan, every product page links back to their studio profile.
Thank you for trading with us.
